Warning about Taxi's. Unfortunately a lot of taxis in amsterdam are swindlers and thieves. When they know you're a tourist they'll charge many times the allowed price or they'll take a detour. Never take a taxi from the taxi stand a central station period. You'll have a high change to get ripped off.
Only take a taxi with a taxi light that looks exactly like the one in the picture below (www.tcataxi.nl). From Amsterdam Central Station you can best take bus 22 ( see instructions below ). If you need to take a taxi you can best walk to one of the hotels opposite Central Station and halt a taxi like in the pictures below or ask at the reception of the hotel to call a TCA taxi or call with your mobile ( phone number +31(0)20-7777777). When you take a Taxi from The Airport you are allowed to pick a Taxi of choice out of the line. You can ask for a flat fee (around 42 euro/ see TCA website, www.tcataxi.nl, for actual rates)

only take a taxi with exactly this taxi light ( www.tcataxi.nl )
Buy a trainticket at the airport and get on the Train to Amsterdam Central Station.
Walk to the busses opposite the main entrance of Central Station ( under the Victoria hotel). Take Bus 22 and make sure it has the DIRECTION INDISCHE BUURT (this should be showing on the front of the bus, otherwise ask the driver). Get off at the stop just under the windmill. The name of the stop is ZEEBURGERSTRAAT. The bus driver can also assist in indicating the stop.
From the stop Zeeburgerstraat walk just over the canal and turn left at Café DORST, and walk a few seconds until you get to the Zeeburgerdijk 17 (see maps)
From Amsterdam Central Station you'll have several options to go by tram:
- TRAM 9: You can take tram 9 from Central Station into the direction Diemen and after 14 minutes get off at the 1e van Swindenstraat just by the Tropen Museum, a 5 minute walk a block going east along the canal toward the windmill. Pass by Café DORST and continue on to 17 Zeeburgerdijk.(see maps)
-TRAM 14: From Amsterdam Central station it is just a short walk (10 min. ) to Dam square. At Dam square you can take tram 14 into the direction Flevopark. After 13 minutes you get off at stop PONTANUSSTRAAT. That is in front of BBIJ. (see maps)

At the Round-about (where Fortis Bank is on your left) bear right continuing north and toward the city center. Turn right just before the viaduct onto Mauritskade continue until you get to the round-about at the Tropic museum. Continue around the round-about and continue to drive along the canal.
