Getting around


Tram 14 and 10  and bus 22 (see maps at bottom of the page)

Tram 14
stops right in front of our building and it takes 10 minutes to Waterloosquare and will go on to the Rembrandtsquare, the Mint, the DAMsquare, the Jordaan and the Anne Frank house. The stop in front of our door is named PONTANUSSTRAAT. When you're returing from the mentioned tourist areas to BBIJ take tram 14 back to direction Flevopark (sign on the tram) and get off at PONTANUSSTRAAT.

Tram 10 is a 3 minute walk away from BBIJ and it will bring you in 10 minutes to the Frederiksplein/Utrechtsestraatand in 12 minutes to the Spiegelgracht ( antiques quarter ) and the Rijksmuseum/Museumsquare then it will go on to the Leidsesquare ( vondelpark area ).
Returning to BBIJ with tram 10 from the mentioned tourist spots: take tram 10 into direction Azartplein (sign on tram). Then get off at tram stop HOOGTE KADIJK ( see maps below).

Bus 22 stops right next to the windmill (name of the stop: zeeburgerstraat) and it will take you in 8 minutes to Central Station.


Walking to the tourist sites in 25 minutes ( see maps at bottom)

Click HERE for a nice route in Google Maps from BBIJ to the centre. The route takes you along the historic windmill de Gooyer  and beer Brewery 't IJ. Then you take the Hoogte Kadijk and walk along the historical museum Shipyard 't Kromhout. Then you'll walk along the 18th and 19th century canalside warehouses of the the Entrepotdok (some nice restaurants here). Pas over the canal ( small bike/foot bridge) and you enter Plantage quarters and walk in front of Artis ( the ZOO ). Walk to the Plantage Muidergracht and you'll pass behind the Hortus Botanicus (botanical gardens. Walk along the Nieuwe Keizergracht and you'll get to the Amstel River. On your right hand the  Hermitage museum and on your left side the Skinny bridge. Now you're in the centre and from here it's just minutes to the Rembrandtsquare, the Waterloosquare  and many other places.
